This 65-year-old patient from Williamsburg, VA was bothered by the hanging skin on her abdomen and the fullness above and around her hips. During our consultation, I told her that liposuction would help the underlying fat to the fullness on her sides but leave the extra skin. Therefore, she decided to have the extra skin removed on the sides at the same time with an extended abdominoplasty. She is extremely pleased about how she fits in her clothes following her recovery. She could have benefited from additional flattening with muscle tightening to her abdomen at the same time. She did not choose this option because two months of limited exercise and strenuous activity was overly restrictive for her present job situation. Her scars were designed so that they are hidden beneath her underwear and bathing suit.
