This Virginia Beach woman in her mid-50’s had lost 40 pounds in the past and was bothered by many rolls of skin and the fullness and sagging of her mons area. During our consultation, she expressed her anxiety about the discomfort of a tummy tuck. However, upon exam we found that muscle tightening was not necessary in her case and 80 to 90 percent of her result would be with skin removal, not muscle tightening. She chose to just have skin removal which would give her a quicker recovery as well. With her abdominoplasty, a large amount of skin was removed with the underlying fat. She also had suspension of the mons area with sutures which is a very reliable way to make this area more comfortable and less bothersome. She is extremely happy with the scar trade off, although it is still early in her recovery. The pinkness will eventually fade to white and be less noticeable.
