This 36-year-old woman from Virginia Beach had 400cc saline breast implants for well over 10 years. She came for a consultation to discuss her desire for larger implants. We had a very thorough discussion about the types of implants available and what would give her the look she desired. Because she was very thin, I explained that a larger saline implant may cause visible rippling especially on the side of her breasts. The likelihood of this could be decreased by placing gel implants. However, she was very happy with her saline implants, she just wanted them larger. Placing implants over 400cc requires careful planning and discussion. To give her the best result, I felt that we would also need to create more space for the larger implants by opening the pocket that her existing implants filled. This procedure, called a capsulotomy, gives the larger implants more room and a softer feel. To avoid increasing the width of her breast, I was careful to avoid opening the pocket to the side, and we chose a high profile 610cc implant. These photos were taken 4 months after her procedure and she is very happy with not only her new size, but the shape as well.
